William Beare (1864) and Family

William Beare was born on 7 February 1864 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. William was baptised on 26 February 1864. As he grew up he chose to remain at home and not take the academic career like two of his elder brothers John and George. He had talents and liked to use his hands to practice a wide variety of skills. Carpentry was his first love. William married Maria Smyth on 31 December 1893 in St. John's Church, Listowel, Co. Kerry, and they returned to Bandon to live and raise a family. They had four children George, Benjamin, Susan and William. William died on 30 November 1939 and is buried in the family grave in St. Peters Churchyard, Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland.

Maria Smyth was born on 20 October 1868 in Ballinruddery, Listowel, Co. Kerry. She is the daughter of Benjamin Smyth and Honoria Enright. She married William Beare, son of George Beare and Susan Smyth, on 31 December 1893 in Listowel, Co. Kerry. They lived in Bandon from their marriage until their deaths. Maria and William have four children. She died on 30 October 1934 and is buried in St. Peters Church graveyard, Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland.

George Beare was born on 13 October 1895 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. He is the son of William Beare and Maria Smyth. On 27 November 1895 the family went to Christ Church, Kilbrogan where the Reverend Benjamin Christmas Fawcett baptised the baby. George married Margaret Elliot at Limekilns Church, Dunfermline, on 22 March 1933, by the Rev. John Ferguson, Minister, Church of Scotland. He was aged 39 and she 34. George and Margaret had three sons, William, Robert and George. George died at the age of 73 on 5 July 1969 and is buried with his wife in St. Peter's Church Graveyard in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland.

Benjamin Beare was born in 1896 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. He is the son of William Beare and Maria Smyth. Benjamin died at the age of two in 1898 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland.

Susan Beare was born on 23 April 1898 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. She is the daughter of William Beare and Maria Smyth. She married Norman Herring in 1926. Norman died in 1927. Susan married Goodlett Hamill on 21 November 1932. Susan and Goodlett have three children, Margaret Patricia, Desmond Goodlett and Alan David George. Susan died in December 1956 and is buried in Hollywood, Co. Down, Ireland.

William Beare was born on 20 April 1900 in Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. He is the son of William Beare and Maria Smyth. William married Sylvia Gibson. They lived in Bristol, England where he was a Professor of Latin in Bristol University. William and Sylvia have three children, Rhona, Oliver and Nancy. He died on 28 July 1963 and is buried in Bristol, England.
